Dogs can eat well cooked oatmeal serve at room temperature. If the oatmeal is too hot it can burn the dog’s stomach and cause tummy trouble. Oatmeal can be good for the constipation, as well as for allergies, and sensitive dry skin.

How to serve oatmeal and how much oatmeal

The cooked oatmeal can be serve mixed with dog treat or dog food. You need to measure 1 tablespoons of oatmeal for every 20 pound dog. In other words a 60 pound dog can only have 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. Aldo can serve a dog oatmeal 1- 2 times weekly at the most.

Never raw oatmeal

Raw oatmeal can cause diarrhea, vomiting or can be life threading for your dog. The fact that oatmeal absorbs a lot of water, can lead to diarrhea or vomiting, and could also get your dog very sick. Like I said above, a dog can be serve oatmeal up to twice a week at the most. And only well cooked oatmeal if it has constipation.

How often can dogs be bath

Bath: a) If a dog doesn’t have any skin problem nor allergies, it’s recommended to be bathe only once every 3 month. If you bath a dog too often it takes off their defense and get sick easier. And during the middle of those 3 month a dog can be kept clean with daily brushing or cotton ball with baby oil, or a shampoo spray that doesn’t require water. And if a dog gets dirty in the mud, you need to wait for the dog to dry up first. Once the mud dry up, the mud become dirt and most of it falls off, then clean the dog with a brush, baby oil or dry shampoo.

b)On the other hand, a dog with itching or sensitive dry skin or allergies should be bath every other day or twice a week until it gets better, but only with natural oatmeal shampoo or soap, don’t use preservative products.

If your dog doesn’t like bathing in the bath tub, you can try you to soak your dog in the backyard, a parking lot or even a park with oatmeal soap paste and a hose.

Home made Oatmeal Shampoo Recipe

I cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of baking soda or 1/2 cup of liquid castle soap and 1 quart of warm water in a container with lid. Shake well to mix the ingredients. Use it immediately on your dog. Leave the mixture on for at least 5 minutes before rinsing your dog’s fur thoroughly.

Home made Oatmeal Soap Recipe

Step 1: Grind 1cup of raw oatmeal in a food processor or blender until it becomes fine powder.

Step 2:Pour the grind oatmeal into a mix bowel.

Step 3: Add 1cup of baking soda and add 1 cup of warm water into the bowel (not hot).

Step 4: mix well the ingredients until it becomes a paste.

Step 5: use immediately to bathe your dog with the mix, a clean cloth and water. P.S. make sure is not hot.
